Every once in a while, a client lands in your chair that has the potential for amazing hair but, for whatever reason, doesn’t have the resources to fully realize it. These are my favorite clients because once they finally get in your chair, they’re dying for a change. I was lucky enough to have a new client, Abbey, who is currently a freshman in college, and has neither the time nor funds to upkeep her beloved blonde hair. At the start, she had not highlighted or cut her hair in over 8 months, and wanted to be darker while still maintaining some lightness. Piece of cake, right?
I chose to do a highlight/lowlight combination to give Abbey the dimension I knew she was looking for. Even though she had a lot of darkness with her roots, the bottom half of her hair was almost completely blond, so a lowlight in her natural hair color was necessary to break that up. The key here (as I mentioned previously) is keeping the lowlight heavy in the back, while keeping the highlight heavier in the front. As you can see, it blended perfectly with her roots and gave her exactly what she was looking for! Love keeping those clients happy here at Eden XO!!
